It reduces the acid production in the stomach. It also relieves symptoms such as heartburn, persistent cough and difficulty in swallowing. By helping to heal acid damage in the stomach and esophagus, it helps prevent ulcers, and reduces the risk of esophageal cancer. Children younger than one year should not take this medication as there is a risk of serious side effects. Discuss any concerns with your doctor.

Mechanism of action:
