Product Description

Compound Sodium Lactate Intravenous Infusion B.P., commonly known as Ringer's Lactate (RL) Injection, is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, isotonic balanced crystalloid solution intended for intravenous administration. It is formulated to restore and maintain fluid and electrolyte balance in patients experiencing dehydration, hypovolemia, electrolyte depletion, or metabolic disturbances resulting from illness, trauma, burns, surgery, or gastrointestinal fluid losses. The solution closely resembles the electrolyte composition of extracellular fluid, making it one of the most commonly used intravenous replacement fluids in hospitals and emergency care settings.

The infusion contains Sodium Chloride, Sodium Lactate, Potassium Chloride, and Calcium Chloride dissolved in Water for Injections. These electrolytes help replenish essential ions required for normal cellular function, nerve conduction, muscle contraction, and maintenance of osmotic pressure. The sodium lactate component acts as a bicarbonate precursor and is metabolized by the liver to bicarbonate, thereby helping to correct or prevent mild metabolic acidosis while supporting the body's acid-base balance.

Ringer's Lactate is widely used for fluid resuscitation in patients with dehydration, blood loss, burns, trauma, surgical procedures, and shock where appropriate. It is also administered for the replacement of extracellular fluid losses caused by vomiting, diarrhea, or excessive sweating. Due to its balanced electrolyte composition, it is preferred in many clinical situations over normal saline for maintaining physiological electrolyte concentrations and reducing the risk of hyperchloremic metabolic acidosis.

The solution is manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in accordance with the standards prescribed by the British Pharmacopoeia (B.P.) and/or the Indian Pharmacopoeia (I.P.). It is sterile, pyrogen-free, particulate-free, and intended exclusively for intravenous infusion. Each container is hermetically sealed to maintain sterility throughout its shelf life and is designed for single-use only. The infusion is available in various pack sizes, including 100 mL, 250 mL, 500 mL, and 1000 mL, packaged in medical-grade plastic bottles or flexible infusion bags suitable for hospital, emergency, and critical care applications.

Compound Sodium Lactate Intravenous Infusion B.P. is indicated for adults and pediatric patients as directed by a qualified healthcare professional. Administration should be based on the patient's clinical condition, age, body weight, electrolyte status, acid-base balance, and fluid requirements. The infusion should be inspected visually before administration, and it should only be used if the solution is clear, free from visible particles, and the container is intact.

This product is an essential medicine in healthcare facilities and is widely utilized in emergency departments, operating theatres, intensive care units (ICUs), trauma centers, maternity wards, general medical and surgical wards, ambulances, and primary healthcare centers. It serves as a reliable intravenous fluid for rapid restoration of circulating blood volume, maintenance of hydration, electrolyte replacement, and support of physiological homeostasis in a wide range of clinical conditions.
